In most cases, multi-axis lathes are on inclined beds and linear guideways. In these lathes, in addition to the X and Z axes, there are also the C and Y axes, and in the case of a counter spindle, the C1 and Z1 axes, or in the case of a guided tailstock, the Z1 axis. The turret head is equipped with at least one position for driven tools, not infrequently these lathes are equipped with two such heads.
