The world’s premier trade fair for the metal working technology took place in Hannover, Germany, from September 19 to September 24, 2011. Among companies from 40 countries that decided to exhibit, Fermat’s booth with one of the largest machine tools at EMO was easy to find.
With its table type horizontal boring machine WFT 13 and floor type horizontal boring mill WRF 160, Fermat definitely caught the eye of significant part of EMO’s visitors. „We decided to exhibit both table and floor type horizontal boring mills, as we wanted to address visitors with various needs and demands and present them wide range of possibilites that Fermat can offer. The Y-axis travel of the WRF 160 is definitely remarkable.“ said Mr. Jan Ferenc, CEO, about the column with 196.85“ vertical travel that was presented at the exhibition. After EMO, this floor type borer will travel accross the ocean to the US. The machine will feature X travel over 393.7“ and a large 110,000 lb CNC rotary table with 137.79“ x 137.79“tabletop.
Apart from its impressive column, the floor type horizontal boring mill could gain the attention of the visitor’s with its 6.29“ spindle diameter, 80 HP main motor, Fanuc control system, ram travel of 47.24“, and spindle travel 39.37“. The machine was equipped with ATC 60 and was presented in standard Fermat blue and red colors.

Being one of few manufacturers of this milling head (positioning increment 0.001° in each of the two axis) in the world, Fermat claims that many of it’s customers producing very precise parts appreciate the high power of 40 HP.
For customers looking for a smaller machine, Fermat prepared the WFT 13 with 49 HP on main Siemens motor, Heidenhain iTNC 530 control system, X-axis travel 137.79“, Y-axis travel 78.74“ and spindle travel 28.74“. The CNC rotary table, with tabletop dimension of 70.86“ x 86.61“, has a maximum table load 33,069 lbs.
„Even though we prefer personal approach and detailed visit of our facilities with every customer, I think that we managed to present our company, our philosophy and main aims for the future during this week in Hannover. I am glad we had the chance to meet such a huge amount of potential customers and discuss with them their needs and their questions. Our company always gives priority to individual approach. That’s how we find out any specific demands of the customer, and no matter how challenging they are, we always try to meet them. “ said Mr. Jan Ferenc, describing the company philosophy.
In case you didn’t have the possibility to visit EMO in Hannover personally, the company representatives assure that all interested customers will receive a warm welcome both in Prague and Brno facilities in the Czech Republic, and will be given a detailed insight into the company’s production.
